The boss order recommended in this guide has been designed primarily to avoid the need to backtrack while keeping boss weaknesses in account. However, the order in which the player defeats each boss becomes important if he or she wishes to collect the Beat letters without backtracking, because the items needed to reach many of the hidden bosses must be won from certain Robot Masters.
Out of all of the Mega Man games for the NES, Mega Man 6 has perhaps the most flexible boss weakness system, since the majority of the Robot Masters can be defeated with the Mega Buster without too much trouble.
